Dr. Michel van den Oever

Dr. Michel van den oever is Assistant Professor at the Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam.

He studied Medical Biology at the VU Amsterdam and obtained a PhD in Neuroscience at the department of Molecular and Cellular Neurobiology, VU Amsterdam. After a postdoctoral training at the lab of Dr. Josselyn at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada, he returned to the VU, where he now heads the Memory Circuits research team at the Center for Neurogenomics and Cognitive Research.
Michel van den Oever participates in several research consortia and was previously awarded with a VENI and VIDI grant from the Netherlands Organization of Scientific Research (NWO).

Michel’s research currently focuses on the spatial and temporal organization of memories related to drugs of abuse and fear in the brain. Read more about his research here
